Eastern Blooms swap

I totally fell in love with this gift bag as soon as I saw it!  The great Elsie Camp made each one of us "orphaned" demos this as a special treat at a meeting we had ages ago.  Since then I have made several of them.  Chas and I used this as one of our projects at one of our stamp camps.  Elsie is like the "mom" of our group of demos that get together once a month to stamp and chat.  She has such great ideas and it is always fun getting together with all my friends.  If you join my team, you to will be invited to go to these meeting with me.  You don't want to miss out on the fun!!! Join today!

Decor Elements

We have some beautiful vinyl elements for decorating your home.  Here is one I placed on my wall as you come up my stairs.  I love it.

It is really pretty when the candles are lit, but I couldn't get the lighting right for the picture.

This is a sample itinerary:

Day 0- Depart Seattle Washington
Day 1- At sea (lots of stamping/scrapbooking will get done this day)
Day 2- Juneau AK, Noon - 9:00pm
Day 3-Glacier Bay 7:00am - 4:00pm (we don't get off the boat-just get as close as possible to the glaciers)
Day 4-Sitka AK, 8:00am-5:00pm

We will be doing our scrapbook layouts for each port ahead of time, so you know what type of pictures to be taking.
We will be doing all kinds of other papercrafting also.  I am having so much fun figuring out all the projects, I have to start narrowing it down so I can fit it all into the time frame!!

I will have a sample class schedule out soon also.  Keep watching!!

Cruise to Alaska - My luncheon aboard ship the ms Amsterdam

A couple weeks ago I had a wonderful invitation from my travel agent, Kathleen Tansey to have lunch aboard the ship the ms Amsterdam.  It is the sister ship of the ms Zaandam.  The ms Zaandam is the ship we will be on for our AMAZING cruise to Alaska in August 2010.  I was already excited about the cruise, but I have never cruised before. My imagination had been running wild about what it is like-and I have to tell you-the luncheon and tour exceeded all my expectations.

Our first stop was a room they have set up for live entertainment.  It was beautifully decorated with all different kinds of art and statues. The ship crew greeted us with mimosa's and kept them coming if you wished for more than 1.  :) We watched a short clip about Holland America and the world cruises they offer-(someday I will get to go on one of those)!  They also asked about how many days the crowd had cruised-apparently it is rather additcting because many of them had cruised for over 200 days!  I imagine that is total days cruised-not consecutive.  WOW!  I was impressed-but that kept me from snapping pictures of everything.  Didn't want to risk looking like a tourist that was not going anywhere but back home....lol.

Then we were off to lunch in the main dining room.  We sat on the upper level, and the view of Seattle was really great by the end of lunch.  It had been foggy and misty most of the day.
The food was exceptional.  Served with ice water, and all the wine you want.

Menu:

Creamy Grilled Tomato Soup
Topped with basil foam

Salad of Lobster and Grapfruit
Asparagus and pink grapefruit vinaigrette

Olive Oil Poached Alaskan Salmon
Warm vegetable salad and balsamic vinigrette
or
Oven Baked Rack of Lamb
Roasted bell pepper puree, Meditereanean vegetables and rosemary-garlic demi-glace
or
Harvest Butternut Squash Risotto
Petit mache in tangy, tangerine vinaigrette

Crunchy Fruit Napoleon
On chocolate and fruit sauces

Petits Fours, Coffee, Tea

The whole thing was so incredible.  I was so full, I could not believe it.
The crew was so friendly and the service was absoultly first class. I felt like royalty!
(my lunch today is microwave heated Progresso soup-wish I were back on the ship)

After lunch, we went on a self guided tour.  I got to see the Hudson room, which will be our stamping/scrapbooking room 24-7 during the cruise, the gym, the spa, the library, both pools (pictured below) -OH and this huge buffet of food-all kinds of sandwiches, pannini(sp), wraps, fruit, salads and the huge dessert section.  Oh man-if you didn't like the menu for lunch, just go order yourself a custom sandwich or whatever your heart desires!!  I think there was also tacos, and chinese food-it was such a huge buffet-and it is open 24 hours a day.  Need a midnight snack-go have one of the chef's whip you something up!  The ship was boarding already for the cruise leaving at 4pm that day, and there were people getting themselves snacks and all kinds of stuff to eat.

Here is a pic of me next to the pool that has a roof that opens when the weather is nice.

Pool on the top deck-this is where I will be hanging out when I am not stamping or scrapbooking!

Nightclub at the top of the ship.  Amazing views.  The lady in the picture is Leenora.  Leenora and her husband joined Kathleen and I for lunch.  They are experienced cruisers, and were a wealth of information, answering any and all of my inquiries (its any wonder how I ate my lunch-my motormouth just kept asking questions about their experiences) They are a very sweet couple.

I will add our itinerary details later.  It is going to be so much fun!  I hope you join us!

August Club Projects

This project is a gift card holder.  I got the idea from my awesome friend and fellow demonstrator Jodey Batay.

We started with Soft Suede ink and the  Polka Dot background stamp (item # 109276) that is on the dormant list, so if you like it be sure to order it soon!  It may retire with the next catalog.
1. Lay the background stamp down and tap the ink pad all over it.
2. Place your Soft Suede CS down, lining it up on a score line.
3. Fold your grid paper over the whole thing and rub it so you get even coverage.
This is how it should look.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3, turning your Soft Suede CS inking the top flap.
It should look like this.
5. Again repeat steps 2 & 3 with your strip of Crushed Curry
6. Sponge edges of Soft Suede CS and Crushed Curry CS with Soft Suede Classic ink.
I have trimmed off the edges of a regular ol' plain envelope for you
7. Glue flap down (I don't lick them-icky)
8. Fold in half and glue down bottom half
9. Glue the top 1/2 of the envelope to the inside of the Soft Suede
10. Place 1 dimensional in the middle of the 2 halves.  See how it makes 2 pockets.  One can be for a gift card, and one for a little note from you :)

11. I used the new set That's Funny and stamped in Basic Black ink. I double matted it on Dusty Durango, and Crushed Curry.  Then color them in using the new In Color Markers.  If you don't have these In Color markers yet-they are a MUST HAVE!  They totally ROCK!
12. Place 2 dimensionals on the Dusty Durango, taking care to make sure you are placing them at the BOTTOM of your image......trust me. :)
13. Use a 2-way glue pen to fill in the flames on the candles and the ribbon of frosting across the cake.  Sprinkle Dazzling Diamonds over the glue.
Now how fun was that?  I loved it! Thanks Jodey!
This next project is so cute!  I took the layout of the card from my upline Christie Hagerhjelm, I changed it up and made it my own.
1. Start with folding your So Saffron CS (my favorite color)  in half (like a regular card) and then fold on the score line in the middle of that back towards the spine of the card so it looks like this:
2. Glue Flock Together DSP onto outside flap.
3. Glue Whisper White base to back of So Saffron CS.
4. Glue Certainly Celery CS to the center of So Saffron
5. Using the Razzle Dazzle stamp set, stamp the large flower in Versamark and onto Whisper White square.
6. Break out those Stampin Pastels!!
What I love about the Stampin Pastels is they come with all the colors in the standard color families.  Bold Brights, Earth Elements, Rich Regals, and Soft Subtles, and they are listed on the back of the lid-just like a christmas box of chocolates!  Takes the guess work right out trying to coordinate! Awesome!
7. I use cotton swabs to apply my chalk because my applicators are in need of cleaning or replacement. :(
I started with the So Saffron, then used Rose Red on the flowers.  I used a bit of Certainly Celery on the stems and followed up with Garden Green for a bolder look.  I also cleaned it up a bit with the eraser.
8. Glue to So Saffron mat.
9. Turn over - flipping it towards you and only glue on only the left 1/2
(see step 9 before you do this)
9. Line up with Certainly Celery mat and adhere to Flock Together DSP only.
10.  With card folded closed, stamp sentiment.
Beautiful!  Thanks for the inspiration Christie!!

Carousel Notes card

I make a basket of cards every year for the Scleroderma auction.  I love the Carousel Notes for a variety of projects. Almost everything on this card is retired, but take it and make it your own!  I would love to see what you come with!  Leave me a note so I can check it out!
Supplies:
Stamp set: Eastern Blooms, Itty Bitty Backgrounds
Ink: Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette
Cardstock: Kiwi Kiss, Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red, Whisper White
DSP: Bella Rose
Tools: Classy Brass Template - Pick a Petal, Stylus, Circle Scissor Plus, Bone Folder, Scallop Edge punch, Big Shot, Stampin' Up! Scallop Envelope die, snips
Other: Crystal Effects, Dazzling Diamonds glitter, Tombo Liquid adhesive, dimensionals
Ribbon: Riding Hood Red Taffeta
Here is a close up of the mini card so you can see the glitter better.  I used dots of Crystal Effects and sprinkled the glitter on and let it dry overnight.  I tried using the 2-way glue pen first, but liked this effect much better!
Here is a shot of the card out of the mini envelope.
Love it!  Hope you like it too! :)
